Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is Scotland’s Youth Employment Strategy which aims to develop a skilled workforce for Scotland’s future.
We strive to embed employer engagement into the curriculum to help ensure our young people are best prepared for the world of work.

Your DYW School Co-ordinator is Samantha Lamond. Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) https://www.dyw.scot/ is a vital part of Scotland’s careers and skills system. Our role is to connect employers with education to prepare young people for the world of work and informing and empowering young people about the employment opportunities within the region and the learning pathways to get there.
DYW at Drummond High School supports staff and young people by:
• Supporting staff and careers advisors to liaise with employers and partners (higher education, further education, training organisations, apprenticeship providers etc.).
• Organising themed career education events in the school around topics of pupil interest, suggested by the subject offer in the school or to support curriculum delivery, bringing in employers and the world of work into the school.
• Ensuring Drummond High School attendance at regionally organised events such as sector specific events, careers fairs etc.
• Disseminating relevant offers from employers (work experience, insight events, mentoring support etc.) to staff
• Support young people to consider the apprenticeship route
• Supports the school to link with industry and encourages young people to identify and explore opportunities that help them feel more informed and inspired about their post-school options, while also equipping them with the tools that they will need to seize these opportunities.
