Return to school April 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

I hope you are having a lovely break and enjoying the sunshine. I would also like to wish Ramadan Mubarak to everyone in our school community who is observing the holy month of Ramadan.

I am writing to let you know of the arrangements for the return to school of all S1-S6 pupils on Tuesday 20 April as follows, and in a nutshell, they are very similar to what was in place between August- December 2020.

While we are very pleased to be welcoming all student back to school as physical distancing between pupils is not required in classrooms, it is hugely important that pupils distance from staff, and from each other in corridors and the playground, alongside the other mitigating health and safety guidelines. Pupils will not be allowed in school before the first bell unless going to breakfast club in the Concourse.

Separate entrances and exits at the usual school start, finish and social times:

  • S1 & S2 main doors
  • S3 & S4 Social Subjects doors
  • S5 & S6 car park doors

All pupils follow their usual timetable, including going to their registration class first thing each morning.

Health & Safety

  • All pupils and staff are expected to wear face coverings unless medically exempt.
  • All pupils must sanitise their hands upon entering the building and all classrooms.
  • All pupils must follow the health and safety guidelines across the school grounds and in each classroom.
  • Everyone must follow the one way system in place between English and Maths and keep to the left in corridors.

Testing kits

  • Can be collected between 3.25- 3.45 daily from the Concourse for S1-S3 and from the side doors for S4-S6.

Catering

  • S1-S3 will have lunch at the usual time 1.05-1.45- a grab and go lunch can be ordered at registration and collected in the Concourse. All lunches, packed, or grab and go should be eaten outside. S1 pupils should remain within school grounds at interval and lunch.
  • S4-S6 will swap P5 and lunch as before- a grab and go lunch can be ordered at registration and collected in the Concourse. All lunches, packed, or grab and go should be eaten outside.

PE

  • PE will still be outside so appropriate PE kit should be worn to school if students have PE that day. Please note that see through leggings, crop tops and football kits are not appropriate for school PE.

I will continue to keep you all updated in Headteacher bulletins as usual, and wish you a peaceful last long weekend of the holidays.

Kind regards,

Jodie Hannan

If you have not been contacted directly to tell you your child, who may attend Drummond Hub as a child of a keyworker or vulnerable young person, is a close contact, then your child should attend the Hub as normal. The vast majority of our pupils are learning from home in this lockdown period anyway.

Enhanced cleaning and infection control measures are in place in line with national guidance.  The school remains safe for the very small number of pupils and staff working in it over lockdown.

If you have any concerns in the meantime, or if you need to book a COVID-19 test because your child has developed symptoms (high temperature, a new continuous cough and/or a loss or change in sense of smell or taste) please visit the NHS Inform website www.nhsinform.scot or for non-clinical advice call 0800 028 2816.
