Genetics & Ethics: The Future of Science and You

At this science and career exploration event for S5 and S6 pupils, hear from young researchers at the University of Edinburgh’s Roslin Institute, MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine and Centre for Biomedicine, Self & Society, who will talk about their work in genetics and ethics and their career paths so far.

 

Have your say on some of the ethical issues facing scientists and society, and find out about applying to university from the University of Edinburgh’s Widening Participation team.

 

This event is for pupils in S5 and S6 and is free to attend. It is part of our 2019 Genetics Centenary celebrations – 100 years since the founding of the Genetics Society and 100 years of animal genetics in Edinburgh – and is supported by the Genetics Society.

Career Exploration event: ‘So you want to be a Nurse?’

This exciting event, co-run by The University of Edinburgh and Queen Margaret University, is for aspiring Nursing students.

It is a half-day of presentations including a fun interactive session led by academic staff. All designed to provide an insight into the varied career opportunities available with a degree in Nursing.  You will hear from Nurses sharing insights into a typical ‘day in their professional life’. You will interact with current Nursing students and lecturers and be encouraged to ask your burning questions! Finally, you’ll learn about the admissions and application process at Edinburgh. Refreshments will be provided.  This event counts towards your career exploration and as such is a fantastic event to reflect upon in your personal statement.
